The Moran family started Affordable Storage in Lake Charles back in 1996, motivated by their own need of storage places they had themselves. By using regular storage for their own business, Mr. Moran thought of the idea of offering regular and climate controlled units for the population in town. A goal that he accomplished when he opened the first climate controlled storage facility in the city of Lake Charles back in 1996.

Aware of the customers’ needs, and the desire to have their belongings/inventory close to their homes or places of business, he opened a second location on McNeese Street back in 2000. That way, people can have the advantage of more availability on the units, and also a second location that could be more accessible for the people who lived in the surrounding areas. The new location also would provide the services for storing boats, RV’s, and regular vehicles.
With the spirit of innovation always guiding his ideas. Mr. Moran, worried about the situation that affected Louisiana during the hit of both hurricanes Rita and Katrina, started a new service desperately needed by the community.

In the aftermath of the hurricanes there were a lot of damaged houses and businesses. There were also not enough storage facilities in the area of Lake Charles to satisfy the demand of the population. That is why Affordable storage started to work harder to satisfy the customers’ needs.
